In what has been an emotional offseason for those who bleed Orange and Blue, may get even more emotional-as it is being reported that the Mets are looking to trade ace Johan Santana.
In order for that to take place the franchise needs to pick-up what remains on his contract, which is about $31 million. Santana, who tossed the first Mets’ no-hitter against St. Louis on June 1 showed glimpses of his Cy Young form during the 2012 season.
Some of the other highlights for the starter included an 11-strikeout performance in six-and two-thirds innings against the Marlins and a complete game shutout of the Padres on May 26th.
This will be another emotional move for the fans, as Johan has been a true leader for the Mets both on and off the field. Santana’s starts always gave the fans a reason to hope and to make the atmosphere at Citi Field an electric one.
Though there is nothing official yet, it will be interesting to see the direction the franchise will take next. Maybe Johan will be spending his last year in a Mets uniform in 2013, as always stay tuned.
