Launched in April, Caibiria is the first plus size line to have a show in New York Fashion Week is a grand step for designer Eden Miller and possibly other plus size designers in the show’s future. Shortly after the spring launch, Miller was approached by non-profit organization the Fashion Law Institute who offered to put money down for the show.
The increasing cry for more options and designers to create more plus size options, Miller hopes that her Fashion Week show brings her more credibility in a fashion world where it is still a touchy subject to extend beyond size 12. The national average for women is a size 14.
With accolades from the Daily Mail calling the line a “victory in the size zero war,” the path for Eden Miller seems to be starting on the right foot. The plus size exclusive line may prompt more brands to step out and develop for plus size customers. Designers, like Miller know what the demand is and trends can fit any body shape. In fact, Susan Scafidi of the Fashion Law Institute first met a Caibiria-clad Miller and considered her designs a “nice collection.”
“I wish she made it in my size,” she also adds. The relationship between Miller and Fashion Law Institute was ignited and history was made at this year’s Fashion Week.
