The Supernatural season nine premiere is almost upon us, and if you've been paying attention, you know it will have Sam (Jared Padalecki) facing immediate peril. The trials took a toll on him physically and mentally last season, and when we pick back up with the Winchesters again, he is down for the count and in a hospital, fighting for his life. Dean (Jensen Ackles) is left to guard him and ward off those who might be coming to take him out while he's already weak-- including and especially some of the new angels who have fallen after the events of last season's finale.
From the network: Dean is frantic after Sam collapses and the doctor tells Dean his brother won’t make it. Desperate, Dean sends out an all points bulletin via prayer to every angel in the area, asking them to help his brother. In exchange, Dean will owe that angel a favor. Numerous angry angels race to find and kill Dean, but one, Ezekiel (guest star Tahmoh Penikett), gets to him first. Meanwhile, Sam fights for his life and must face some familiar demons to do so. Castiel (Misha Collins) struggles to survive without powers.
So how much of the action with Sam in the season premiere "I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here" (and these first look photos above) is actually happening, and how much may only be in his mind as he fights through memories and false realities, trying to journey back to his brother topside? You'll have to tune in when Supernatural returns to The CW on October 8 2013 at 9 p.m. to find out for sure!
