The Nike Kobe 5 "Prelude" was featured on Wednesday alongside the reveal of the Nike Kobe 9 Elite "Masterpiece" at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. With Kobe Bryant's fifth championship in hand which came from defeating the hated Boston Celtics, the Kobe 5 "Prelude" is once again a celebratory colorway with bright gold and purple symbolizing the colors of the Los Angeles Lakers mixed with teal accents that give the shoe a pop art look. The Kobe logo on the tongue and the swoosh on the side panels uses a metallic gold finish symbolizing the Larry O'Brien trophy that is given to the NBA champion of that given year.
The Nike Kobe 5 "Prelude" will launch on Jan. 4 at select Nike locations as part of the "Prelude Pack", which celebrates the historic career of Kobe Bryant leading up the debut of the Nike Kobe 9 Elite "Masterpiece" on Feb. 8.
