First look: New full-length trailer of Peter Capaldi as Doctor Who

Today the first full-length trailer with Peter Capaldi as The Doctor was released giving fans a great first look at where “Doctor Who” is headed in Season 8. BBC aired the much anticipated trailer during the half-time break of the World Cup.

First full-length trailer with Peter Capaldi as Doctor Who

The trailer lets fans know that in this new season “life returns” as Capaldi’s Doctor reflects: "I'm the Doctor. I have lived for over 2,000 years. I have made many mistakes. It's about time I did something about that."

And Whovians everywhere will gasp, as I did, as the new Time Lord answers Clara’s question of where are we headed with a spine-chilling “into darkness.” Just a quick FYI, the Doctor is a two-hearted alien that travels through time and space in a blue police box called the Tardis that’s “bigger on the inside.” Capaldi will play the 12th reincarnation of the Time Lord (if you don’t count John Hurt’s lost Doctor).

The first official full length episode starring Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor is aptly entitled “Deep Breath” as fans finally get to move forward with the next generation of Doctor Who. Set in Victorian England, the season premiere will feature the return of the fan favorite trio of detectives that include the dome-headed alien Strax (Dan Starkey), the lizardlike Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh), and her human wife, Jenny Flint (Catrin Stewart). And, of course, Clara (Jenna Coleman) joins the adventures as the companion Who fans worldwide have come to love.

Looking forward to exploring space and time with the new darker Doctor when Doctor Who returns to BBCA on August 23. Hurry up!!!
