All of you die hard Happy Endings fans know just how crazy things can get when you stick Max (Adam Pally) and Penny (Casey Wilson) together, but because of the way season three has progressed with her personal life, there hasn't been much time for the dynamic duo to pair off. Earlier in the season, Max was jealous of losing out on "Penny time," but when the show returns in its new time slot, with an all-new episode, that feeling will seem like a thing of the past. "In the Heat of the Noche" is an episode half-devoted to Max and Penny, as she attempts to help him break one of his bad dating habits.
"There's one episode coming up that I love, which is while I'm planning my wedding, Max is having trouble. He keeps texting this guy he just met like hundreds of times, and this guy is not answering him. And I'm like 'If you want to learn how to not text someone, come to my house at six o'clock'," Wilson said to LA TV Insider Examiner when we were on the Los Angeles set with her earlier this month.
"So he comes over, and our entire episode is based on this true story from one of the writers, who in order to not text a guy, takes Nyquil [to] knock out at six p.m. Because then when you wake up, you have some power because you haven't texted-- but they don't know that you had to physically knock yourself out at night! So Max and I just become these addicts for this Nyquil-like substance, and we're sleeping all the time...just in order to not text guys."
In case you're wondering, the substance is "NocheTussin," a black market cough medicine, in Happy Endings' universe, and we wouldn't be surprised to see a fake website pop up for it, ala Dave's music label.
Happy Endings airs on ABC on Friday nights at 8 and 8:30 p.m. starting March 29th 2013. Be sure to check out our on-the-set chat with the cast about the new TGIF. "In The Heat of the Noche" will air at 8 p.m.
