First look: Azalina's new pop-up dinner menu

If you've ever been to a San Francisco street food festival and noticed a coiling line of giddy eaters breathlessly talking about laksa and pumpkin fritters, you would have been wise to stop and join them. If you did not, you now have the chance to try Azalina Eusope’s famed Malaysian dishes at her new pop-up dinner series.

Though born in Penang, this trained pastry chef took a while before shifting focus from crème brûlée to curry. With the help of the incubator kitchen La Cocina, she crested to street food fame and has been selling a line of sauces and coconut jam at Whole Foods Markets since 2011.

Beginning February 17th, Eusope takes over the kitchen at Wise Sons Deli to debut her Sunday dinner series, which goes through March 3.

Here’s what's on the first menu of the series:

Spice Roasted Chicken with Coconut Crema
Hand-pulled Noodles with Funky Lemongrass
Winter Vegetable Salad with Tamarind Dressing
Grilled Purple Sticky Rice
Fried Purple Yam with Coconut Jam

Each item will cost under $14. Expect new options every Sunday. Though reservations are not necessary, you can drop Azalina a note to say you’re planning to come via her facebook page.

Dinner dates: February 17th, February 24th, March 3rd, March 10th
Time: 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
