First look at Los Angeles Lakers scrimmage at USC's Galen Center

It will be no easy task for new Los Angeles Lakers head coach Mike Brown to take over for arguably the most successful NBA head coach of all-time in Phil Jackson (11-time NBA titles), but it seems as though Brown has already gotten some much-needed respect from his players after the first few weeks of practice.

With Brown’s emphasis on the defensive end of the basketball floor, the Lakers will almost certainly be a better all-around team this year and on Fri. Dec. 16 the public and diehard Lakers fans were able to get a first look at the new-look Lakeshow. This Lakers practice and scrimmage held by Mike Brown and his coaching staff took place in front of fans at the Galen Center on the USC campus in Los Angeles.

Mike Brown was impressed by the way the Lakers executed the offense, but believes improvement needs to be made on defense before the beginning of the 2011-12 NBA season:

"I thought our communication defensively wasn't good. I thought our defensive transition wasn't good. I thought the ball got to the post too easy," Brown said. "I think we forced it at a certain point in the offense."

It will be interesting to see what kind of team the Los Angeles Lakers will be this season with Mike Brown calling the shots on the sidelines. If the Lakers can improve on defense and continue to fire on all cylinders on offense, this team could be a NBA title contender once again.
