First lady style

At first, Mrs. Obama appeared awkward. She often wore mannish suits and dark colors; however, her style has evolved into what she wears today. Mrs. Obama has a style all her own that is very different from the styles of previous first ladies. Whereas first ladies before her often appeared artificial and stuffy, Mrs. Obama appears natural and confident. She wears her look; her look does not wear her. She has a more casual and eclectic style then her predecessors. The thought that first comes to mind is that she has the style that a Mom would have. She combines high-end designer pieces with less expensive items from Gap or J. Crew, as many Moms do.

Mrs. Obama wears many cashmere cardigans instead of a formal suit. She often pairs a cardigan with a floral dress or pencil skirt, blouse and kitten heels. She also wears a duster over a dress both for day and night. She wears bright colors and bold patterns. She also knows how to accessorize. She wears chunky jewelry or an elegant brooch often. She also breaks some rules. For example, she wears shorts and t-shirts while disembarking Air Force One.
