Call of Duty is one of the industry's largest releases year over year. Over the last couple of years, many fans have complained about a drop in both quality and innovation from the yearly released titles.

To combat this, Activision has divided up the development duties to now three separate studios; Treyarch, Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games. With Sledgehammer Games taking the helm for the upcoming 2014 release, all eyes are on them as this will be their first solo developed Call of Duty title.

Today, Sledgehammer Games gave us a glimpse into what we can expect from their title, as they have released the first in game image of on of the characters within the game. Citing that these installment will be "next-gen" first, it seems we may finally be seeing the first use of Activison's all new engine, first revealed in early 2013.
