Oklahoma Thunder star Kevin Durant leaves surprise video on Instagram account that sets the scene for another basketball war on home consoles.

NBA 2K15” cover athlete and NBA Most Valuable Player Kevin Durant shared the first official gameplay footage of “NBA 2K15” today, 2K Sports announced via a press release obtained by Examiner.

Although just 30 seconds long, the video shows brand new animations as well as cool crowd elements, such as fans holding up huge cut-out heads of Durant.

The first gameplay footage comes off the heels of the announcement last month that music icon Pharrell Williams will curate the soundtrack for the upcoming game.

The video also shores up what appears to be another interesting basketball war on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 this Fall between 2K Sports and Electronic Arts. The 2K series clearly dominated last season selling 970,000 copies on the PlayStation 4 alone, compared to Live 14's combined sales of 200,000 copies on the XBox One and PlayStation 4, according to video game sales tracker VGChartz.com.

EA Sports hasn't given up on their once critically-acclaimed series however. “NBA Live 14” developer Sean O’Brien has promised over 500 improvements from last year’s “NBA Live 14” and told a fan on Twitter last week that shooting in this year’s game will be much improved. In an open letter to gamers in June, O'Brien apologized for the game's graphical and gameplay shortcomings as well.

NBA 2K15 is scheduled for release on October 7 in North America, and on October 10 internationally for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 computer entertainment systems, the Xbox One all-in-one games and entertainment system and Xbox 360 and Windows PC.

So what do you think of the footage? Is “NBA 2K15” going to be a better game than last year? Sound off in the comment section below.
