MTSU students viewing a Lunar Eclipse
The First Friday Star Parties at the Middle Tennessee State University are starting back up again this fall. Below are the listed dates:
Sept 4 - Black Holes and Warped Space - Jana Ruth Ford
Oct 2 - Atmospheric Fireworks: Aurorae in the Solar System - Chuck Higgins
Nov 6 - 400 Years after Galileo: How Our View of the Universe Changed - Eric Klumpe
Dec 4 - Binary Stars: Strange Star Dances - Jeff Gritton
They will be from 6:30 - 8:30 PM at Wiser-Patten Science building, room 102 and outside. The event will be a 30-45 minute public lecture followed by the outdoor telescope observance, as long as the weather is good. It's open to the general public, as well as MTSU students, faculty, staff, and even kids.
The party is a free event and has free parking on Friday after 4:30 PM behind the WPS Building.
Here are the directions in case you need them:
At the intersection of Baird Street and Main Street, take Baird to MTSU campus.
Turn right at stop sign onto Blue Raider Drive.
Turn left onto Friendship Street.
Continue past entrances to first set of parking lots on left and right.
At curve in road, turn left into parking lot.
WPS Building is the second building on the right, at the end of the parking lot.
It is asked that you park only in the designated areas and handicap parking requires a state permit.
