First Friday in Knoxville

Knoxville is proud of it's art scene.  No other night proves it like the first Friday of each month.  Obviously your chance to get to a gallery on the first Friday of January has gone, but keep your schedule cleared for the night of Friday February 5th.

What is First Friday?  Galleries have openings or shows of special interest and welcome in art-enthusiasts who go out to take advantage of not only the art, but the specials offered at restaurants and other business (Blount Mansion, Old City Java, Coffee and Chocolate at 327 Union Ave, or 501 Arthur, to name a few).  The list of galleries is long, very long.  If it's about art and it's in Knoxville, from Yee-Ha to Art Market Gallery, they've got something going on for First Friday.

You can see the list of participating businesses here.  Check out photo albums of artist galleries and some First Friday openings here.  Today is the third Friday in January but there's still cool stuff to do, don't forget about the Ice Bears!  Maybe just head downtown and check out the new menu, live piano and art deco structural beauty at the S&W Grand.  There's plenty to do on every Friday in Knoxville, but the on first Friday of each month there's no excuse to stay home.
