The First Friday Art Walk will be held in the Crossroads Arts District this week. Enjoy local artists, galleries and sculptors throughout the designated Art District. The largest collection of food trucks in Kansas City will be available at 20th and Wyandotte. The art walk runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Keller Art Gallery located west of the district at 734 Southwest Blvd. will be open during the times of the art walk.
“Current Perspectives” will be presented at the Epperson Auditorium at 45th and Warwick on Oct. 3. Christian Rattemeyer will be the featured speaker. Rattemeyer is an associate curator in the Department of Drawings at the New York Museum of Modern Art.
The Summit Art Festival formerly known as the Longview Art and World Music Festival will be held Friday through Sunday. The festival has moved to the downtown district of Lee’s Summit. The Summit Art Pavilion will feature artist of the Summit Art Organization. O’Riada Irish Dancers, People Next Door and Clint Martinez Band among others will provide entertainment for the event.
Harmonies of the Homefront is featured at the National World War I museum, 100 W. 26, through October 24.
Belger Arts Center will feature “Contemporary Talavera Uriarte” and “The French Connection” at the gallery. There will be an opening reception during the First Friday Art Walk in the Crossroads Art District. The gallery is located at 2100 Walnut and the exhibit will run through Jan. 4, 2014.
Corey Antis will be the featured painter and sculptor at the Gladstone Community Center located at 6901 N. Holmes. The exhibit will run through Sept. 24.
The Greenlease Gallery will present: “L’Hourloupe” a group exhibition at the gallery located inside the Rockhurst University Campus at 54th and Troost. The exhibit runs through Oct. 12.
The Keller Art Gallery at 734 Southwest Blvd. in Kansas City, Kan. will feature the works of Steve Wilson. Steve works with mixed media, photography and acrylics. He will be on display indefinitely at the new gallery.
Kemper East will present “Nomads: Traveling Adolescence” at the gallery located at 200 E. 44th Street. The exhibit closes on Nov. 15.
The Prairiebrooke Gallery will present “Pioneer in Painting” by Maya Eventov at the gallery located at 7900 Santa Fe, in Overland Park. There will be an opening reception on Friday Oct. 4. The exhibit will run through Oct. 19.
“Madwomen?” by Sybil Paris Noble will be featured at the Writers Place at 3607 Pennsylvania. The exhibit will run through Oct. 4.
