If you want to make a great first date impression in Santa Monica, pick a coffee shop with character. You don’t have to be extravagant, but choose a place to meet that is a non-chain where flirting comes more naturally. You’ll increase your chances of a second date by being a little creative. Below are my top five picks, in order of preference.
Coffee shops with character in Santa Monica
1) 18th Street Café House – 1725 Broadway, Santa Monica, CA 90404
This westside café is a secret find and owned by Bob Dylan. Many TV shows and movies are filmed in this cozy café where you can get lattes and sandwiches. Your date will feel relaxed, and the conversation will be easy. Take in the fresh air, greenery and sunshine on the patio.
2) Caffe Luxxe – 923 Montana Ave, Santa Monica, CA 90403
If you want a rich espresso and cool crowd, take your date to Caffe Luxxe on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica. Their lattes are like art, and the black and white photos give it a cool vibe. They offer a unique coffee taste that will get your date in the mood for more.
3) Café Dana – 1211 Montana Ave, Santa Monica 90403
If you’re looking for an outdoor café with a gourmet breakfast brunch, take your date to Café Dana on Montana (right next to Revolution). You can get mouth-watering fruit crepes and have a food orgy that they won’t forget.
4) Urth Café – 2327 Main Street, Santa Monica 90405
If you can handle the crowds, go for the cool factor at the Urth Café on Main. It’s been featured on Entourage and everything tastes awesome! You probably won’t see Adrien Grenier, but their homemade apple pie aroma can be a big turn on. Go when you’re not in a rush and take it in.
5) Bergamot Station Café –2525 Michigan Avenue, Santa Monica 90404
If you’re looking for a different place with art on the side, check out Bergamot Station Café. The sandwiches and salads are tasty, and you can walk around the galleries afterwards. They’ll be talking about you for months, and you’ll get bonus points for a creative date.
