First crash: Gumpert Apollo wrecked

The first Gumpert Apollo crash was one of amazement. How could a vehicle with ample amounts of down force be wrecked? To no surprise, this high powered super car couldn't withstand the abuse of this unknown noob driver. Being a new and extremely rare vehicle, the driver probably wasn't properly settled into the ways of the Apollo. What could have possibly caused this wreck? By looking at the minimal footage we have hosted by wreckedexotics.com, it's safe to say the Apollo was spun out through a corner and smashed into a wall. It's a mid engine and rear wheel drive vehicle, so chances are it slid out through the corner thanks to an inexperienced driver. Remember, cars typically don't crash themselves!

The positive side of this wreck is we get to see how well built the vehicle is. To withstand this type of abuse and still remain somewhat intact, takes extensive engineering and high quality materials. Only weighing 2,400 lbs., the Gumpert Apollo held up considerably well considering it's lack of weight. It's structure consists of a tubular chromoly frame, with stock fiberglass panels that can be optioned into carbon fiber. It features extensive amounts of down force through aerodynamic design, so much the maker claims the vehicle could be driven upside down. Even this great amount of down force isn't enough to fight the perils of a bad driver making poor judgment. Another Apollo mission failed, ouch!
