Join the fun and help in raising funds to benefit the first “community inclusive” playground in Fernandina Beach in North East Florida. Participate in the First Coast Heel-n-Wheel on Saturday, November 13th, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Teams will be organized of 3 to 6 wheelers and walkers who will share a wheelchair and follow a planned one mile route. Participation is open to people of all abilities and wheelchairs will be available for loan on the day of the race.
The park is designed by Freedom Playground Foundation, Inc, a (c)(3) non-profit organization, who create playgrounds for people of all abilities. The foundation works with professional landscape architects to incorporate elements of art, nature, music and play into all designs spanning from public playgrounds to intimate sensory gardens. The unique park enables people of all abilities to play side by side with friends and family and teaches others to accept challenges and celebrate diversity.
The Heel-n-Wheel will be at the Atlantic Recreation Center in Fernandina Beach, where you can enjoy the route through canopy roads of Fort Clinch State Park. In addition to the walk, there will be face painting, games, wheelchair sports and food from Sonny’s Barbeque. Bring your family and friends and help raise funds for this worthy cause.
