For fans of Kiera Cass' The Selection who are ready for something new from the series before The Elite hits shelves on April 23, Harper Teen is releasing a new Selection novella called The Prince tomorrow (March 5), and a sneak peek at the first chapter from the story has now been unveiled!
Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive look at The Prince, which tells the early portions of the Selection story from Prince Maxon's point of view.
The character is self-deprecating as always and says things like "Any girl who settles for me can't possibly be a sane woman." So, his humility is clearly not just a figment of America Singer's imagination.
Back in September, 2012, Kiera Cass wrote about the origin of The Prince and seemed to hint that this may not be the only novella to come from this series.
It’s basically a short story that takes place within the timeline of the first book. The Prince came about mostly because of my wonderful editor, Erica Sussman. As we were editing The Selection, she asked all these fantastic questions. Some of them led me to start looking at things the way other people in the stories would see them. In the end, I wrote two scenes from different POVs, one from Aspen’s and one from Maxon’s.
The Prince is taking that scene from Maxon’s perspective and elaborating on it. If you’ve ever wondered what the whole Selection thing looks like through his eyes, then I think you’ll really love this.
Head to EW for the full chapter preview of The Prince!
The e-formatted text is currently available for pre-ordering from Amazon.
