This Friday night, NWA Houston will close out their 2013 campaign with an event known as "Crimson Christmas" at the Cypress VFW. Here is a rundown of what you can expect for the final show of the year.
Traditionally, you would associate red and green with the Christmas holiday. This Friday, one man will be seeing more red than anything, as "The Texas Prodigy" Carson faces off against "The Modern Day Hero" Kevin Douglas in a First Blood match. This has been brewing throughout the year, as Douglas has been a thorn in Carson's side ever since costing him several title opportunities in 2013. Last month, Tony Brooklyn made it official that they will settle their score when they collide on December 20. The winner will be declared as the man who can bust his opponent open first and draw first blood.
After putting Raymond "Death" Rowe through a table and breaking several of his ribs last month, NWA Lone Star Heavyweight Champion "Addictive and Expensive" Byron Wilcott has been feeling pretty good. However this Friday night that could all change. He has a huge challenge ahead in the form of "The American Psycho" Lance Hoyt for the Lone Star Title. We last saw Hoyt at the "Invasion" show in October, defending the NWA World Tag Team Titles, and now he wants a shot to be the best in Texas. But Wilcott is determined to hurt him in the process and escape with his title intact. Can Wilcott tame the Psycho, or will Hoyt add another title to his ever-growing resume?
Speaking of Raymond Rowe, he'll make his return to action this Friday night as he steps into the ring against Jasper Davis. Over the course of the last few months, Jasper has been a constant distraction by interfering in several of his matches. Declaring that he should be the #1 Contender to the NWA Lone Star Heavyweight Title, he will get his shot. But he'll have to go through an enraged Rowe, who has a lot of retribution in mind. The winner of this match will walk out as the #1 Contender and will likely be keeping a very close eye on the Wilcott-Hoyt match.
The NWA Lone Star Tag Team Titles will be up for grabs this Friday night in Cypress, as The Sons of Texas (Alex Reigns and James Claxton) will put the gold on the line against possibly their toughest challenge so far in Breaking Point (DJ King and Silky Baines). This will be nothing short of a hard-hitting contest, as Breaking Point look to regain the titles they once held. But the Sons have been very impressive in recent months and have already shown they will do whatever it takes to keep the titles. Expect this to get brutal in a hurry, as two of NWA Houston's toughest teams go to battle.
NWA Lone Star Junior Heavyweight Champion Rudy Russo has had a number of exciting matches this year with "One Man" Mike Dell. This week, they'll go to war one more time as they face off for Russo's gold. This match could easily steal the show, as fans have enjoyed the matches these two have had this year. Can Russo hold onto the Junior Heavyweight Title, or will NWA Houston's one and only Triple Crown Champion pull off the upset and walk off with the gold? Either way, fans are in for a treat when the bell rings for this match on Friday.
Two teams that have been at each other's throats lately have been Real America (Chaz Taylor and Hambone) and The Prima Donnas (Danny Manson and Jodan). These four have met in singles and tag matches over the last few months, but no clear winner has really been decided. Last month, Chaz Taylor had finally had enough and issued a challenge for a Texas Tornado tag match. Tony Brooklyn loved the idea and made it official. This Friday night, all the rules are out the window and these two teams will settle their score.
And finally, you will see a battle of giants at the Cypress VFW. "Godzilla" Jax Dane, who recently returned from Japan with ½ of the NWA World Tag Team Titles, will step into the ring with Paul Titan. Over the last few months, Titan has opened a few eyes with his in-ring work. However, Jax has raised his own intensity level since returning home. Titan is young and has a lot ahead of him, and a win over Jax could rock NWA Houston to its core. While Jax is usually very quiet, you can bet that he'll be more than ready when NWA Houston presents "Crimson Christmas" this Friday night.
All of this and more goes down at the Cypress VFW, 21902 Northwest Freeway (Highway 290) this Friday night. Tickets will be available at the door, with prices set at $15 for adults and a special Christmas price of $5 for kids under 12.
Doors open at 6:30 P.M. with belltime set for 7:30 P.M. NWA would also like to thank the following sponsors for their continued support:
