If you asked a homeless person about your home congregation, what do you think they would say?

If you asked them about First Baptist Church of Garland, they would say "Friendship House". Since 1977, First Baptist Church of Garland has been assisting the homeless and underprivileged of Garland with food, clothing, and bedding through Friendship House, their benevolence center. Friendship House is supported entirely by FBCG and its volunteer needs met through their membership. The efforts of Friendship House meet the physical needs of at least 100 families a week.

But First Baptist Church of Garland is more than just Friendship House. FBCG is home to more than 1,500 believers who gather in 4 services every Sunday morning. Different worship styles draw multiple generations and ethnicities from a wide radius. An active Sunday school program offers members and visitors alike a chance to get to know one another better in a smaller, more intimate setting. This is an active community offering more than 1,200 places for members to serve.

First Baptist Church of Garland believes in giving back to the community in many ways. Partnering with Firewheel Baptist, they host a Fall Festival and the Star Spangled Fourth, an Independence Day celebration. Both of these are designed to offer families a safe, fun place to play together. FBCG is a host site for Upward sports; an organization allowing children to play sports for the purpose of building skill, rather than focusing solely on winning.

The foreign mission field has always been vital to this church's identity as well. There are five international locations that benefit from FBCG sending people, supplies, or money.

First Baptist Church of Garland is a church on the move, with a clear vision for where they are heading and how to get there. FBCG is a place to call home while reaching out to those that live outside the walls of the church.
