The Phoenician Awards, a “people’s choice” awards program honoring excellence and superior achievements, honored several local companies and leaders, Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Arizona Historical Society Museum. Several special awards were given out, including the “Visionary Award” to Bob Parsons, founder and executive chairman of Go Daddy; the “The Lifetime Achievement Award” to Mary Manross, former mayor of Scottsdale, for her lifelong professional commitment to service in her community; and the “The Humanitarian Award” to Debbie Gaby and Ed Sandidge for their local philanthropic efforts.

Over 6,000 votes were cast by Arizonans who voted for their favorite individuals and companies via the Phoenician Awards’ Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/PhoenicianAwards. The Phoenician Awards’ official CPA, Henry & Horne, tabulated and certified the votes from the public and determined winners in a variety of categories, including arts, education, retail, sports, entertainment, leisure, real estate and hospitality.
Winners were kept secret until they were announced on stage at the Oct. 2 awards ceremony. Plans are already underway for the 2014 Phoenician Awards program. The Phoenician Awards is presented by TMG Entertainment, which has produced similar awards programs in Miami and Las Vegas.
