Today Barrett-Jackson announced that at their 2014 Scottsdale Collector Car Auction, Ford once again stole the show, offering up the first retail sale of the all new 2015 Mustang. A sale which bennefited charity, the new 2015 Mustang crossed the block on Saturday night selling for some $300,000.

In a surprising development, the car wasn’t bought by long time Mustang collector from Chandler, AZ, Ron Pratte. Instead, the winning bidder was car collector and North Texas Ford dealer, Sam Pack. The gavel fell at $300,000, all proceeds going to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

As the winning bidder, Pack will choose his own options and colors, equipment and style when the 2015 Mustang begins production later this summer. In addition, Team Mustang will sign the car in appreciation of the donation to JDRF.

“The response to the all-new Mustang GT on the auction block was remarkable,” says Raj Nair, group vice president – global product development at Ford Motor Company. “People were drawn to the opportunity to own this historic car, while also knowing the funds would benefit JDRF. We’re pleased to continue this collaboration in the fight to cure type 1 diabetes.”

The 2015 Mustang GT was on display all week long at the Barrett-Jackson event, right up front in the Ford booth. Both a couple and convertible were shown for crowds, the latter which appears in our Mustang highlight video below.

The 2015 Mustang will be center stage all year long as we head to the 50th Anniversary Celebration this April. Later this year it is expected that the all new 2015 Shelby GT-350 high-performance variant of the new 2015 Mustang will also debut.

Likely to be shown at the New York Auto Show in April, the 2015 Shelby GT-350 is expected to have over 500 horsepower and it too will likely see an appearance at the Barrett-Jackson auction block later this year.
