Firestir Dragon from Born of the Gods
Wizards of the Coast

Firestir Dragon is one of the newest "Born of the Gods" spoilers revealed today Jan. 11, 2014 in a post on and is one of five prerelease cards for the set. Firestir Dragon may not be the most powerful dragon we've seen lately, however Firestir Dragon will help you get there - especially in limited where it'll shine.

Firestir Dragon - 4RR
Creature - Dragon (Rare)
1R: Firestir Dragon deals 1 damage to target creature. That creature can't block this combat. Activate this ability only if Firestir Dragon is attacking.

Firestir Dragon isn't nearly as aggressive compared to Thundermaw Helkite, however its ability allows you to prevent your opponent's creatures from blocking. With enough mana you'll be able to swing in unopposed or simply take out a key threat your adversary controls. One place where we see Firestir Dragon could find a home is as a potential addition to a Domri Rade deck. Firestir Dragon also makes an excellent mana sink for Xenagos, the Reveler.

Firestir Dragon will allow you to push through with monstrosity creature cards such as Ember Swallower, Polukranos, World Eater, Stormbreath Dragon, and Polis Crusher helping you gain some late game reach. While its activated ability is mana intensive, by the time this Dragon has hit the battlefield you'll be able to activate it three times in one turn, hopefully ending the game in your favor.

How will you use Firestir Dragon?
