When Daniel Boone and his men reached the Kentucky River on April 1, 1775, they quickly moved to establish Kentucky’s second settlement. That spot is still known today as Fort Boonesborough. The park is home to a reconstructed, working fort complete with cabins, blockhouses, and furnishings. Resident artisans perform craft demonstrations and give visitors a true sense of what life was like for pioneers in Kentucky.

Other facilities at Fort Boonesborough State Park include a museum, a gift shop with an outstanding selection of Kentucky crafts, and hiking trails. In warmer months, visitors can enjoy the swimming pool with water slide, rain tree and mist fountain, and miniature golf.

Fort Boonesborough is an easy trip 90 mile from Metro Louisville. Consult Google Maps for detailed directions from either I-75 or I-64.
