Firefly: Not your grandma's batch of sweet tea

Get Firefly sweat tea vodka in many Houston bars.

The trend of flavored vodka is still growing strong and it was only a matter time before the savory taste of sweet tea was fused with a crisp and clean vodka.

Firefly sweet tea vodka  is made in a small town in South Carolina and uses only the finest of ingredients for their potent tea creation. The tea has been a favorite shot of bartenders since its release in June of 2008. A perfect sweet tea shot is chilled and shaken with just a splash of water added to it. The blend of tea and water blend tastes identical to a fresh batch of sweet tea-but with a kick.

Just as other trends in bars have taken off, the bartenders are the forefront on this sweet trend that is surly here to stay. If you can’t trust your bartender who can you trust?

“Sweet tea vodka is great for anybody, it is a flavor that everybody is familiar with which makes it smooth and easy to drink," says Tate Powers, head bartender for 10 years at Buffalo Wild Wings Rice Village.

Bars and clubs all around Houston have picked up on this sweet trend and now they are starting to carry the intoxicating tea creation. Brian O’ Neill’s in Rice Village carries the Sweet tea creation frozen which gives the vodka a nice twist. While sitting on their patio during Houston summers, this is your best bet to cool off. Insiders know that sweet tea vodka is the new drink to either shoot straight or chill over ice. So the next time you are out at your favortie bar and are pondering what drink to have next, relax and enjoy a sweet tea!
