When you're looking for a happy hour deal, you're looking to save money. Oftentimes this comes with a compromised quality in the food. But if you're not willing to settle for less than the best organic food in town and great drinks specials, than the new "Beat the Clock" happy hour at Firefly in Dupont is the place for you.
Happy hour runs 3-7 pm, Monday through Friday and the price of house wines, draft beers and rail cocktails starts at $1 and goes up an additional dollar every hour until it's $4. So the breakdown is as follows:
- 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. all drink specials are $1
- 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. drink specials increase to $2
- 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. drinks specials increase to $3
- 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. drink specials increase to $4
On Monday nights the drink specials last until 11:30 pm.
Firefly recently began serving Batch 19. Those who watch the new HBO series Boardwalk Empires will be familiar with the history of prohibition that was enacted in 1919. When beer and other alcohol was able to be served again 14 years later, it just wasn't ever the same. Batch 19 uses Hersbrucker and Strisslespalt hops to give their lager a herbal note with hints of black currant. This unique beer is only available in five cities across the US, so stop by Firefly for a taste of preprohibition beer on tap.
With all that drinking you're going to want some of their amazing locally sourced and organic foods. Snacks go best with cocktails, so Firefly has the “Seven Salty Snacks” menu available for $5 during happy hour:
- Deviled Eggs with smoked paprika, caper powder, and garlic chips
- Salt Roasted Baby Beets with Cherry Glen goat cheese, Sicilian pistachio, fig vinegar, and micro arugula
- Chicken Fried Oysters with po’boy sauce
- Grilled Red Wine Poached Octopus with avocado, olive aioli and roasted olive gremolata
- Smoked Whitefish Brandade on garlic toast sliders, scallion-caper persillade
- Mac ‘n Three Cheese
- Truffle Fries or Parmesan Truffle Fries
