'Firefly' fans celebrate at Denver area Myths and Legends Con

There was no shortage of brown coats last night at Denver area sci-fi and fantasy convention as “Firefly” fans celebrated their shiny geeky passion. The second annual Myths and Legends Convention kicked off a weekend long party last night Aug 8, 2014 at the Ramada Plaza North. Cosplay was in full bloom with orange “Firefly Jayne hats,” Kaylee, Inara, and Captain Reynolds outfits catching up with friends. Of course there was a “Doctor Who” and a “Supernatural” Castiel roaming around along with some steampunk beauties. For some, the highlight of the night was the “Firefly” shindig that was kicked off by the incredibly popular band Pandora Celtica. For the gaming enthusiasts, there was plenty of fun with board and RPG gaming. One such gaming area was sponsored by Rocky Mountain Games who just started their Kickstarter campaign. Tonight, Sat 9 will be the anticipated stellar events “Game of Thrones Murder Mystery” and a "Harry Potter Wizard Ball."

What makes this event unique is that it focuses on a handful of fandoms, and for "Doctor Who" and Joss Whedon fans, this convention is really something special. According to organizer Nikki Ebright, “Myths and Legends is a new convention for the fandoms that don’t really have a home in the Rocky Mountain region.” This cozy get together will focus on all the sci-fi and fantasy goodness such as “Harry Potter,” “Doctor Who,” “Firefly,” “Lord of the Rings,” “My Little Pony,” and new this year, “Game of Thrones.”

Myths and Legends Convention is an event for all ages that will not break the bank. An incredible value, the ticket prices are currently just $25 for adults and $10 for children. Tickets are available at Brown Paper Tickets. Ramada is offering a great deal on rooms for only $99 and $109 per night. Come hang with old friends, meet new ones, and be sure to be a part of this unique and fun event.
