How many times have you played a weenie deck, only for your opponent to stabilize with a large blocker like Thragtusk? What if that Oblivion Ring was another threat? Firefist Striker allows you to get around any potential obstacles and push in extra damage. Combined with Fiend Hunter, you can have an aggressive "removal" package that doesn't stop you from relentlessly flooding the battlefield with threats. Five-Alarm Fire will ensure you're able to deliver the final blow or take care of any additional blockers.
You'll need to attack with three creatures in order to use Firefist Striker's Battalion ability. With haste creatures like Legion Loyalist or the tokens created by Thatcher Revolt that shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Firefist Striker may just help push Champion of the Parish based decks over the top. Between Boros Charm, Frontline Medic, and Aurelia's Fury there's enough tools to set Boros humans in a prime contender in the immediate upcoming days of Standard. You may want to consider snatching up a play set of Clifftop Retreat before their prices climb higher.
Boros isn't the only guild that can abuse Firefist Striker. Gruul players seeking to abuse Domri Rade can get an explosive start with a Burning-Tree Emissary and Firefist Striker on the second turn. There's also Rakdos and Izzet deck combinations to explore.
How will you use Firefist Striker?
