Firefighters surprise the staff and students of Pilsung ATA

This afternoon Mrs. Rose Myers and a few of the students of Pilsung ATA Martial Arts were paid a very special visit. Members of the White River Township Fire Department surprised everyone with a visit and special presentation.

Life Safety Officer Zollars and another Firefighter stopped at the school to present Mrs. Myers with a Community Service Award Certificate. While the certificate and presentation were a complete surprise, the reasons for it are well known. Mrs. Myers and the entire Pilsung ATA Family are very involved in their community. In this particular case the project started back in June of 2013 with the Strawberry Festival. The students and staff of Pilsung pitched in and hosted a Board Breaking Booth at the Festival as well as putting on a demonstration for the crowd. The grand finale for the event did not, however, come for another three months. In September Mrs. Myers delivered a donation to the fire department in support of their Christmas Angels program as a “thank you” for inviting them to participate in the festival.

Today’s presentation was a complete surprise and made the day of everyone present. While the fire department was at the school plans were made for Pilsung’s return to the festival this summer. These two organizations are fast becoming partners in the fight to protect their community. There is no doubt that this year’s Strawberry Festival will be even bigger than last year’s.
