Firefighters die in lodge from intense fire, two others hurt in roof collapse

The search term “two firefighters die in lodge” has become a trending topic on major search engines this weekend after Upcoming Yahoo News reported this Sunday, Feb. 17, that two firefighters lost their lives in a major fire in Texas. Two other firefighters were also seriously injured in the blaze.

The two firefighters who died in the recent lodge fire suffered severe burns sustained during the rescue, and have been identified as Eric Wallace and Gregory Pickard. Each were among a team of firefighters called in to calm the blaze late Friday night. Although the two were seen entering the hall, they never came out after being ordered to evacuate from the intense heat, said ABC News.

“He called for help, and said he was low on air,” said a source about Eric Wallace.

Gregory Pickard and two other firefighters went in to rescue Wallace, but were unable to after the lodge’s roof finally collapsed from the flames.

Wallace died on scene, while Pickard later passed away in a Galveston hospital on Saturday. The other two firefighters are now in stable condition. Our hearts go out to these brave men and their families.

Yahoo! News added that at the time “two firefighters die in lodge” began trending, the cause of the fire remains unknown.
