On the evening of Wednesday June 11 2014 the Setauket Fire Department was alerted via Suffolk County 911 center for a reported garage fire within a residence. The location given was 8 Flagpole Lane. Setauket received the 911 call at approximately 7:37pm. Upon arrival of the 1st due engine company a working fire was transmitted at 7:42pm.

Under the command of Setauket 3rd Assistant Chief Paul Rodier, he requested assistance from Stony Brook Fire Department, Centereach Fire Department, Port Jefferson Fire Department, Stony Brook Volunteer Ambulance Corps & Port Jefferson Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Multiple hose lines were stretched as well as two ladder trucks put into operation. Multiple instances of heavy fire reoccurred in the garage on 2 occasions. Reports indicated that one family dog made it out of the home on its own. No injuries were reported. The fire is currently under investigation by the Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal Office.
