Firecracker Run continues a great holiday tradition

What do Willie McCool and George W Bush have in common? Both are former participants in the West Texas Running Club’s annual Firecracker Run held July 4th at the Terry County Park in Brownfield.
This event kicks off at 7:40am with a 1-mile fun run for kids age 4-12 (or K-6th grade for the 2013-2014 school year). This event is a steal at only $1 for registration. Parents can run with their kids at no additional cost. The event continues with a 3-mile and 10-mile run starting at 8am. Both races start in the park and are out and back courses. There are some slight hills in the park with a few more on the 10-mile course, but overall, these are mostly flat courses.
Online registration runs through Tuesday, July 2nd at 6pm with no race day registration. The cost is $5 for running club members and children under 16 and $15 for non-members. Packet pickup occurs at the race prior to 7:30am.
If you can’t run but want to get into the holiday spirit, volunteers are always welcome. This is a great way to start off your holiday. Hope to see you there!
