Someone hurled a Molotov cocktail at an east side home Sunday morning, setting the structure ablaze and causing death and injuries. Police and fire arson units are investigating.
The incident occurred at about 6:00 a.m. this morning at a house in the 11000 block of Kenmoor Street, near Conner and McNichols and not far from the Mt Olivet Cemetery.
The house was occupied by a family of nine, some of whom had special needs.
Witnesses told police they saw a black Chevy Malibu pull up to the house. One or two men got out and tossed the firebomb.
The home was soon being consumed by a smoky blaze.
According to police, first responders were valiant, dashing into the home to pull people out.
Despite their efforts, one person was dead. Three others are in critical condition.
Four of the other five were also taken to the hospital.
No one is yet in custody.
