In Italian sports car circles, Valentino Balboni is not just a celebrity, but a legend. For more than 40 years he served Lamborghini as its test driver, earning appearances on hit car shows, such as Top Gear and Rides. The pilota veloce (fast driver) is set to join the 2010 Fireball Run Adventurally: The American Heroes Challenge, which is not only a unique event described as "Amazing Race meets motorsports", but strives to help recover America’s missing children.

Though Balboni officially retired last year as a test driver, he still serves the storied marquee as a consultant, and can often be seen at Lamborghini Orlando events in Florida, as well as other motoring events across the country.

Speaking of ‘across the country’, the Fireball Run was founded in 2006 by charismatic marketer, JJ Sanchez, with the first annual event held in 2007. The 2010 itinerary takes competitors (generally successful business owners or C-level executives) on a round-about course from Henderson, Nevada to somewhere in Wisconsin during late September and early October. One part Amazing Race, one part mystery solving a la The DaVinci Code, several parts racetrack prowess, and equal parts fun and business networking, combine to make this a premier motoring activity for drivers of every level.
