If you haven't been to Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center/Utah Olympic Oval, here comes a great reason to go check it out. Mark your calendar for August 8th and bring the whole family to the Fire Water and Ice Festival.
Touted as being "the celebration of the summer" by promoters, this is probably just about the most bang you can get for your family-friendly buck.
It starts at noon and aims to please people of all ages with activities galore. In keeping with the water-themed portion of the celebration, there will be six pools available for swimming and soaking - plus Mayan divers will perform throughout the day for added entertainment. As for the ice, well - the place does house an official Olympic skating oval. It is proclaimed to be some of the fastest ice in the world, why not try it out? Then there is, of course, the fire. The Incendiary Circus will delight onlookers with their signature brand of delightful and fiery performance. You won't be able to miss the firework show at the end of the festival, either. It's slated to be a big one, and radio station Arrow 103.5 will be on hand with classic rock to accompany the show.
An added feature, running throughout the day, will be the Make-A-Wish Foundation auction. Bid on great prizes like vacation packages and restaurant certificates knowing that your dollars will be going to support the children who benefit from Make-A-Wish's services.
Bands will be on hand, providing live music through the day. Couple this with the fact that there will be all kinds of fresh food booths run by local restaurants, and it could be surmised that this is one jam-packed party.
If you're looking for something else fun to do on August 8th, check out the free Craft Lake City Festival at the Gallivan Center.
