The Men in Red haven't stopped making moves as they made two new aqusitions today. The Fire received the rights to Colombian defender Yamith Cuesta in exchange for a 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft selection with Chivas USA.
The club also traded veteran forward Calen Carr to the Houston Dynamo for forward Dominic Oduro. The Fire have added depth to their roster and will look to limit their opponents scoring opportunities with the addition of Cuesta.
"Yamith is a gifted defender with size, speed and strong defensive skills," said Fire Technical Director Frank Klopas. "Our defense will benefit from bringing in a young player with experience both in MLS and his native Colombia."
Cuesta debuted professionally with Colombian First Division outfit Santa Fe. He scored two goals in 24 matches with the Bogota based club in 2007.
He joined Expreso Rojo in 2008 and made 34 apperances in the Colombian Second Divsion before Chivas USA obtained him on a loan in August 2009.
Cuesta played in 15 matches for Chivas USA from 2009-2010 and scored one goal in three apperances with the Colombian U-20 national team in 2009.
Helping the Fire's offense will be Oduro who tallied six goals and four assists for the Dynamo from 2009-2011. The Accra, Ghana native made 19 starts for Houston last season and tied a career-high in goals scored with five.
Oduro entered MLS in 2006 and played with FC Dallas and the New York Red Bulls before being with the Dynamo.
Both Oduro and Cuesta will be added to the club's roster and train with the team on Thursday morning.
