Fire Loan Federico Puppo

The Chicago Fire announced on Saturday that forward Federico Puppo had been sent on a year-long load to Ecuadorian giants LDU Quito.

"In the best interest of the club and player, we have decided to loan Federico Puppo to Liga de Quito for the 2013 season," said Vice President of Soccer Operations Gui Petrei in a statement. "This move allows Federico consistent playing time and an opportunity to play in the Copa Liberatadores qualifiers. We will continue to monitor his progress while he is in Ecuador."

Last July, Puppo was loaned to Uruguayan side Defensor Sporting and tallied five goals in 12 matches en route to helping la Violeta finish in second place in the Uruguayan Premera's Apertura tournament.

In 12 appearances last season for the Fire, Puppo tallied two goals with one assist in the first half of the 2012 MLS season.
