Founded in 1983, the Burn Camps Program seeks to enrich the lives of burn-injured children through outdoor activity, team-building exercises and camaraderie with other burn survivors. The Burn Camps operate year-round. Programs include ski trips, a family-focused retreat and an international exchange program for teenagers.
The Fire Hose Race begins at 10:30 a.m. on the High Noon trail at A-Basin. During the event, teams of five firefighters will race down a slalom-style course while holding on to a 50-foot fire hose.
Participants can either ski or snowboard and will be decked out in their firemen’s jackets and helmets. The fastest team at the end of the competition wins.
Representatives from local Colorado fire companies will be in the base area accepting donations for the Burn Camps Program and distributing copies of the 2013 Firemen’s Calendar (and looking for recruits for 2014).
