George's Steak House, a popular seasonal Lake George restaurant, still has not begun rebuilding after an April fire that delayed its planned seasonal opening. That effectively may wind up making them miss the entire summer season.

The latest word from the restaurant's Facebook page said it has not yet received town approvals for the work. The next town meeting at which applications could be approved is not scheduled until July.

April 18 was supposed to be opening day for the steakhouse George's Restaurant. However, firefighters were called to the East Shore Drive restaurant shortly before 3 a.m. that day. The fire started in a small shed that separates the restaurant from a house on the rear of the property. While that building was destroyed, damage to the restaurant was confined to the kitchen. No injuries were reported.

The Adirondack-style facility has been in operation for 20 years. It is located at 3857 Route 9L, on the east side of the lake. Phone: (518) 668-5482.
