Finlandia Vodka visits Dallas, provides dinner and a show

Chef Sara La Fountain, Finlandia VodkaOn Friday representatives from Finlandia Vodka stopped into the Fairmont Dallas as part of a tour in support of Slow Food USA, a non-profit working to create a just and sustainable food system.  The Cooking with Finlandia event featured four dishes created by Finnish-American chef Sara La Fountain.  Each course was made with local ingredients and included a dash of Finlandia Vodka Classic or one of its flavors.  To complement the dinner, Finlandia’s global brand champion, Pekka Pellinen, paired a Finlandia Vodka cocktail with each dish, and while diners ate and drank, La Fountain and Pellinen took to the stage to demonstrate each course and cocktail.


Chef La Fountain stays busy. Aside from championing local and sustainable cooking practices, she's hosted a cooking show on MTV-3, published an award-winning cookbook and is a regular contributor to numerous magazines.

“Chef La Fountain’s Finnish heritage shows itself in her distinctive cooking style, as well as in how she incorporates sustainability practices into every facet of her culinary repertoire,” said Paul Tuell, director for Finlandia Vodka in North America. “Her epicurean principles are a perfect match for the slow food movement and Finlandia Vodka.”

The partnership is also a perfect match for Fairmont Hotels and Resorts.  The Fairmont Dallas features a 3,000 square foot herb and vegetable garden on the hotel’s rooftop terrace, which supports the fresh-market dining promoted and practiced by the hotel's Pyramid Restaurant.

Dishes and drinks served at the Cooking with Finlandia event included:

  • Tuna salad with miso-Finlandia Grapefruit Vodka dressing, paired with the Finlandia Zing (vodka, lime juice, honey syrup, apple juice, green grapes and lemon grass)
  • Oriental chicken skewers with a sauce that included grapefruit vodka, paired with the Finlandia PomGrosmo (grapefruit vodka, pomegranate juice, lime juice, honey syrup and pomegranate seeds)
  • Grilled beef tenderloin with Finlandia Tangerine Vodka BBQ sauce, paired with the Finlandia Midnight Haze (tangerine vodka, lemon juice, simple syrup, pineapple juice and mint)
  • Pavlova with Finlandia Lime Vodka and tropical fruits, paired with the Finlandia Lime Passion (lime vodka, passion syrup, lime wedges, passion fruit and club soda)
