Fingerprint Security Lite iPhone iPod Touch app review

Fingerprint scanners are actually really easy to beat in real life...

Fingerprint Security Lite for the iPhone and iPod Touch is currently the top free downloaded app on iTunes.  It is a joke app that is supposed to trick people into thinking you have a top notch security device on your iPhone.  Unfortunately, the app fails to deliver the goods due to unreliability in its function.

Fingerprint Security Lite is a joke app that works by two hidden buttons on the top of the screen.  One locks the security and will set the alarm off, and one unlocks it and will turn it off.  These buttons don’t work at all on a consistent basis which takes all the fun out of the app.  You can’t have a joke app where you can’t control the outcome.  You will end up with too much egg on your face.

The actual scanning part does look cool, but it is the only cool thing in Fingerprint Security Lite.  The alarm also works well as it is loud and annoying, which is what you want to pull the joke off.

Fingerprint Security Lite is a bad app not because of the idea, but because of the execution of said idea.  It just doesn’t work well.  Besides that, I don’t like apps that are marketed to sound like they actually work as a security device in the title, yet do something completely different.  Somehow there is a paid version of this app but I don’t see how anyone in their right mind  would buy it as the Lite version doesn’t work and the full version doesn’t give you that much more for the dollar it costs.  Everyone should skip Fingerprint Security Lite and full version.
