On September 20th San Diego Gaslamp district's premier hiphop night club will be celebrating its one-year anniversary of Fingaz Fridayz capping off an electrifying year for the event at F6ix. This night which has become one of the staples of the Gaslamp district's urban music scene is in the capable hands of DJ Fingaz, who has been serving as Friday night's ambassador to hiphop helping F6ix become synonymous with packed crowds and top notch hiphop mixes. DJ Fingaz isn't just your stereotypical one-trick pony hiphop DJ. Fingaz has been known to blow the doors off a club or two with his pavement-shattering hiphop/rap mixes, this DJ is also regarded as one of the most versatile DJ's around (also spins r&b, electro, classic 80's and trap) and over the past year he has helped transform Fingaz Fridayz into "the" hiphop night in the Gaslamp district.
Prior to the summer of 2011, the hiphop scene in downtown San Diego was virtually non-existent, while the few clubs that played the less club friendly urban genre were limited to themed 'hiphop nights' or 'designated hiphop rooms'. Enter F6ix, San Diego's gateway to the hiphop nightlife scene and the premier urban music nightclub in the Gaslamp district. Located on the corners of F and 6th street, this nightlife hotspot has taken it upon itself to satiate the Gaslamp district and the surrounding areas' hunger for hiphop music the past three summers and the club's efforts aren't going unnoticed. As more and more rap/hiphop lovers flock to F6ix for its increasingly popular urban music presence, the nightclub continues to keep the excitement flowing by making its featured nights staples of the Gaslamp's hiphop scene.
In the two years since it first opened its doors to hiphop lovers F6ix has successfully reintroduced San Diego's Gaslamp district to this forgotten genre while maintaining its hiphop magnetism by featuring increasingly popular weekend attractions such as Fingaz Fridayz, a revolving door of talented hiphop DJ's on Saturdays, and the weekend cap Rolling Blackout Sundays. The Gaslamp district's top hiphop spot is a breath of fresh air in a nightclub scene deprived of 'urban/hiphop nights' leaving club goers to choose between many different night spots which all sound reminiscent of the next, playing the same genres of music. F6ix looks to continue filling the rap/hiphop void in San Diego's nightclub scene for weekends to come.
F6ix's one-year-anniversary event will further solidify the urban nightclub giant's grasp on the Gaslamp district as one of the hottest hiphop clubs in San Diego. The foolproof combination of the nightclubs growing hiphop crowd and DJ Fingaz mastery of hiphop mixing has Fingaz Fridays primed to maintain the 'packed house' vibe that comes with a typical Friday, for many Fridays and weekends to come. The anniversary, which looks to be one of the biggest Fridays F6ix has seen, will also feature another club favorite in hiphop artist X.O. The 24-year-old emcee will be making his third appearance at what has become a familiar stage for talented hiphop artist. X.O. will be performing a few crowd favorites which includes his viral releases Amanda Bynes and Orange Soda as well as a few unreleased tracks in a 15-minute set which will be starting around midnight of that evening. This is sure to be F6ix's livest event this weekend so be sure to arrive on time, guest list closes at 11 PM and doors open at 9 PM with the hiphop spinning until around 2 AM.
