8 art spaces. 8 restaurants. Drinks and DJs. Experience it all as you are chauffeured through Austin's urban core. That is how Art Alliance Austin describes this weekend’s annual Art Night event.
Art Night Austin 2012 takes place on February 25th from 7-10pm, and promises to be a one-of-a-kind, feel good experience.
Participants this year include some of downtown and west Austin’s finest galleries, eating establishments, and temporary art spaces. There will be food, drinks, music, and art at each stop along the way, and attendees are chauffeured along the entire journey. Sounds like an amazing way to spend an evening, as well as an efficient way to soak up some culture!
Many of the art installations and exhibits will be on display for one night only, and of course the entertainment part is exclusive as well. Participating art spaces include grayDUCK, Russell Collection, Champion, Wally Workman, B. Hollyman, Gallery Shoal Creek’s satellite, Davis Gallery, and a Jeanne Liotta video installation.
Bites provided by the likes of Frank, Kenichi, La Condesa, Mansion at Judges Hill, and more, with drinks from Ruta Maya, Twin Liquors, Liberty School, Coppola, and Troublemaker. For a more complete list of additional food and beverage vendors, visit the official event page at http://www.artallianceaustin.org/art_night_austin.html
After the art tour, AMOA and Arthouse are hosting an after-party, featuring music by Sorne and DJ Business, with a light installation by Joao Beira and Jackson Haggerty. Admission for the party is $25, and tickets for the excursion start at $75. Attendees can also get a 10% discount on art purchased throughout the night at participating venues. Of course, events like this take lots of work, so if you’d like to help out, you can also sign up online to volunteer. The annual arts extravaganza is a fundraiser for the Art Alliance.
