Finding Your Fitness Home

When that time comes for you to decide on a place to start or maybe continue your fitness journey, there are always different factors to look into when picking the right gym. After all, each gym is different and what’s good for one person may not be good for another. In this article I’m going to talk about some of the better gyms in Lexington, KY and hopefully help make the decision on finding your fitness home a little easier.
One of the longest standing gyms in the Lexington area is Ford’s Fitness Center on Versailles road. I have had the pleasure of working out there on multiple occasions and have always loved the atmosphere. Ford’s is a true bodybuilding gym. Just walking into this place makes you feel like you are in the Arnold Schwarzenegger documentary “Pumping Iron”. The thing I liked the most was the large selection of different equipment for all muscle groups and the fact that the dumbbells go up higher than at your typical gym. If you are a bodybuilder like myself, then this place is home.
Many people when looking for a gym will look at the hours and convenience factor. This is where 24-hour fitness centers such as SNAP Fitness (http://www.snapfitness.com/lexingtonky) come into play. While it may not be the biggest gym around, it is a good fit for people who work odd hours and want the convenience of being able to go get a workout in at 3:30 a.m. after getting off work.
Possibly the best gym in Lexington for the person looking for various ways to help improve their heal is Healthworx Fitness and Wellness Center (http://www.centralbap.com/Left+Navigation/HealthwoRx) in the Lexington Green shopping center. This gym has top of the line equipment good for everyone from the fitness enthusiast in their early 20’s to senior citizens. In addition to the excellent equipment they also offer educational workshops as well as group exercises classes ranging everywhere from yoga to aerobics. Possibly the best part of this gym is the staff. Healthworx has an exercise physiologist, Grant, who is there most hours of the day in addition to the staff of highly skilled and professional personal trainers. If you are looking for a gym that offers everything needed for you to achieve or maintain a high level of fitness then this is a great place to be.
In closing, I hope that when searching out that perfect place to call your fitness home you find a place that fits you well. While there are other gyms in the Lexington area, the 3 mentioned above are, in my opinion, the best in the city.
