When you finally decide to settle down and choose a life partner, it's one of the most critical decisions you can make in life. That one decision determines if you'll experience life, moving forward, with a person who loves and cares for you or someone who will squeeze every last bit of joy out of you. Choosing the right life partner can be a monumental task. You want to find someone who will love, respect, and believe in who you are and who you hope to be but sometimes it could seem like the right 'one' just does not exist. Finding the right person for you might seem most difficult but there are definitely many ways to make choosing the ONE less arduous.
First and foremost it's important to begin with a plan. Deciding what you are willing to tolerate is a first step. If you hate sports, cars, squeaky voices, pretentious behaviour, melodrama, etc. then determine what your true 'pet-peeves' are and establish that at the beginning.
Personalities can vary tremendously so understanding your own personality is key. You don't want to date someone who altogether would not mesh well with you. Having someone who looks amazing might be wonderful, at first, but try to ensure your personalities are a good fit before you get too caught up in how good looking they are. 'Good looking' can grow old and stale real fast if that person's attitude and personality doesn't work well with yours.
This decision takes clarity and a big fat dose of reality. Life partners should always remember that at the core of any relationship is a deep-rooted friendship. Friendship is the best measure of whether someone could make a good life partner in the end. There's nothing better than being with someone who you like and can love all at the same time.
The key to finding your life partner can be made very simple. Figure out what you're willing to tolerate (no lushes or melodrama) then look for the friendship in the relationship. Don't forget, in the end, you choose the people you go out with so don't be mad when things go wrong. Just trust that with time you'll learn to make better choices and, ultimately, you can only hope you choose that life partner who will be your 'partner-in-crime', your 'down-for-whatever' right hand person, and the one who will stick around through thick and thin. The right ONE is out there so don't stop looking and you'll find the ONE for you.
