Web design is becoming increasingly important for marketing purposes as much of our business activities are handled online. It’s also becoming increasingly specialized, too, with many Wordpress themes being introduced to help marketers write responsible ad copy. Sure, anyone can create a simple website gawdy WordPress themes, but it takes real skill to create a professional-looking website with premium WP themes. There are several ways you can select a premium theme for your site, yet those of you looking to customize your website a little more should click on “appearance” or “themes” inside Wordpress - then frown at the abysmal 2013 default themes.
Pick a theme that relates to your topic, your business or your industry. If you’re blogging about Thailand, for instance, don’t use an industrial-like theme. Choose something reminiscent of maps or beaches or travel. For someone who is just starting out or is concerned about the economics of starting a WP site, a generic theme will work well. Simplicity can be a good thing.
Unfortunately, not everyone will find the perfect theme by using the built in theme search option. For those of you who are looking for something specific or with advanced functionality, heading off-site to continue your search will be necessary. This could be as simple as visiting Google and searching for “free Word Press themes.” It could also be as easy as checking out dhetemplate.com where the very best blogger templates exist.
DHETemplate is one of the best free sites to surf for that perfect theme. Each theme is individually listed and costs nothing, so you will not have to sign up for a subscription plan. In my personal experience, I have found that the theme creators are very helpful on this site as well, which could come in handy if things go awry when you are installing the theme.
Navigating the site is very simple. The themes are arranged by style, type, industry, keywords, and popularity. Downloading the theme is quite simple and you have the option to either view a demo, or download your free theme right away. Although DHETemplate is far from the only free premium theme site, it is certainly one of my favorites and I can honestly recommend it to you. If they fail to have what you are looking for, I would certainly be surprised, especially since all themes:
- Are responsive for marketing purposes
- Are easy to install for novice users
- Can be color customized by your CSS/HTML web guru
- Offer a means to present content for those requiring larger lettering
Getting Ideas from Other Marketers
Another good suggestion is to visit other marketing websites using WP for theme ideas. What do you like about the themes that others have chosen for their site? Does it relate well to the blog’s topic? Is it too busy? Too simple? Is it responsive enough for marketing? There is some real creativity on WP and taking a look at what other people have created can help you to fine tune your own choices.
Once you have found the “dream theme” to use on your website, you will now have to download and install it. This is where your web guru comes in handy.
Whenever you download a premium theme, you will usually get a zipped folder, but this, however, is not the zipped folder you need right now. The downloaded file should contain documentation for the theme, PSD files (editable by your designer), and other important files along with information from the author. Also, within that file, you should find a zipped folder labelled as “the theme.” Give this to your designer, or search the internet for quick start guides on installing your new premium theme.
