Finding joy in challenging times

See also

This morning I found myself being awoken by God at about 5 AM and it was an amazing time as I sat there and God revealed some stuff to my heart. I wanted to share this with you as many of you may be struggling during this holiday season; whether you're struggling because of health reasons, financial, or perhaps relationship issues we need to be reminded how loving our God is and that he never leaves our side.

I found myself recently in the past 6 months allowing a client to stealing consume the joy that the Lord is given me, allowed her to affect how I feel, how I react and even some of the thought processes that were coming through my head. As I sat there at 5 AM listening to the Christmas Carol Joy to the World it became clearly evident that I had allowed a circumstance/person to affect the joy that the Lord has given me.

How many times he be found yourself consumed by the circumstances of life and allowed the circumstances to control your joy or perhaps your piece. Has the circumstances of life change your mindset, stolen your hope or cause conflict in relationships, marriages.

The one thing we need to remember as Christians no matter what life throws at us our God never changes, never changes. What happens during these times in our lives we allow the circumstances are people to change what we know to be truth. We don't do this intentionally I just think it's natural that circumstances and our surroundings can affect us. We need to remember that the enemy prowls around like a roaring lion waiting to devour us, waiting for those moments of weakness where he can attack the mind. The key to overcoming this is a recognizing what is happening recognizing that these distractions need to happen otherwise he loses. The amazing part of all this in the dynamics that we face in the mind and in the spiritual aspect of our live is we already winners.

According to the Scriptures God tells us we are victorious and him, if he is in us.

As I sat there this morning knowing that so many changes have happened in the past 6 months of my life I knew that this was an attack. I knew the impact I can have on people's lives, the fact that I am a light to those around me, that I bring joy and encouragement to those around me so why when the enemy attack that I just had to realize this morning in that quiet time listening to a Christmas Carol after being awoken by the Lord that I needed that joy back in my life. I knew in that moment that I had to just cry out to the Lord fill me with your joy, let me be that light again and as the tears were shed the joy returned.

I know during Christmas especially these days with everything happening around us the dynamics of our nation and the economy, the illnesses the things that happen to people that possibly shouldn't happen in our eyes become we can say more evident during this time of year. This time of year we see a lot of people taking their lives, giving up, taking the lives of others, walking away from marriages and just giving up.

My challenge to you today is that you will find that still quiet time whether it's at 5 AM or the middle of the day and listen to the song joy to the world and listen closely to the words in the song:

Joy to the world the Lord has come!
Let Earth receive her King;
let every heart prepare him room,
and heaven and nature Sing,
and heaven and nature Sing,
and heaven, and heaven, and heaven and nature Sing.
Joy to the world, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ;
while Fields and floods, rocks, Hills and Plains
repeat the sounding Joy,
repeat the sounding Joy,
repeat, repeat, the sounding Joy
no more let sin and sorrows grow,
nor thorns infest the ground;
he comes to make his blessings flow

far as the curse is found,
far as the curse is found,
far as, far as, the curse is found.
He rules the world with truth and grace,
and makes the Nations prove
the glories of his righteousness,
and wonders of his love,
and wonders of his love,
and wonders, wonders, of his love

So if you take a minute and really think about these words, it will bring great joy to us knowing that with reason were celebrating Christmas is because our Savior was sent for us who loves us unconditionally, and wants the best for each and every one of us according to Jeremiah 29:11-13:

For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord.
They are plans for good and not for disaster to give you a hope.
In those days when you pray, I will listen
if you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.

So my encouragement to you today is to go back to the joy that you know, cry out to the Lord and ask him to restore that joy and he will be faithful to respond. Make this the most amazing time of year where you can share with others your faith in Christ and let them see that through circumstances you have a hope and a piece that surpasses all understanding.
