Finding God in the midst of your pain

It is easy to see God when things in your life are going well. Your life may be so easy, that you become overly confident and forget to even thank God for the blessings that have come your way. On the other hand, when your life is in turmoil, it is easy to shake your fists at God and scream out, “Where are You? Are You even real?”

During these moments when faith is weak, it is more important than ever to read the word of God. It is within the Bible that you will find the assurance you need to know that He is, indeed, still there. Even God’s only son, Jesus, cried out to God, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” as he was hanging on the cross to die.

In the midst of pain, it is easy to forget God’s ultimate plan. It is easy to forget that God is in control of your life. After all, why would a loving God allow suffering? If you will think about the times in your life when you were in the greatest amount of pain, whether physical or emotional, you will see that it was in these dark moments that you came to the realization that you are weak and unable to always handle everything that comes your way. It is during these moments that you realize your need for something more in your life. It is during these moments that you are truly humbled and realize your need for a loving Heavenly Father. When you are at the end of your rope, you are more prone to give your entire being to God, knowing that He will take your situation and turn it into something good. Your pain opens the door for God to come into your life and help you in ways you never imagined.

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
