The season finale of "Finding Bigfoot" aired on Feb. 16, and the team was in a sort of “Squatch-Off” amongst themselves. The goal was to determine which of the two extremely "squatchy" Pacific Northwest states had the most Bigfoots: Washington or Oregon. Matt and Ranae were Team Washington, and Cliff and Bobo were Team Oregon, set up this way because Cliff is from Oregon and Ranae from Washington. It seems pointless to discuss the arbitrary competition when neither team actually found a Bigfoot, however there were a few interesting things observed about tonight’s episode regarding Matt and Ranae.
From the start, regular “Finding Bigfoot” viewers will notice it is not often that Ranae and Matt are paired together when they divide up for investigations. Usually, Ranae is with Cliff or Bobo, and it almost seems that there is a distant awkwardness between Matt and Ranae.
Perhaps it has to do with the Bigfoot Field Research Organization of which Matt Moneymaker is the founder and president. Ranae personally responded to an article on the Knoxville Celebrity Examiner to make it known that only Moneymaker is a member of the BFRO. She wrote:
One important note to clarify is that your incorrectly identified the Finding Bigfoot team as the BFRO. Only Matt is a BFRO member, the rest of the team is not.
Another interesting observation is the way that Team Washington, Matt and Ranae, dealt with one of their witnesses in this episode. The lady described how the creature she saw ducked behind a tree. In the recreation, she told them the tree was no longer there, so they had Ranae duck behind a nearby tree that was very thin. They immediately determined that the Bigfoot would have had to be too thin to hide that tree, but the lady had clearly told them that was not the tree.
The usually-enthusiastic and encouraging Matt Moneymaker was definitely not up to his game, and neither of the members of Team Washington were showing thorough investigative skills.
Rumors are floating online that Bobo tweeted that they just finished filming the very last season of the show which will air this fall. A search through his Twitter feed does not support that, but he may have removed the tweet later.
