With so much going on in the world, how does one find balance in their life? Many of us are holding down full time jobs, side careers, carpools, recreational sports and still wonder where the day goes. The weeks fly by, months become a year gone and what do you have to show for it?
Hopefully, a lot.
Oh, that's not the case?
Welcome to the world of sacrifice.
Yes, we give up time due to the choices we've made with and sometimes without consent. We manage, tolerate, negotiate and solve the impossible with what little we truly have. It's amazing how we can get our kids to football, dance, soccer, basketball practice on a little gas but a lot of drive.
We'll do without so our children can have better.
That's the way it's supposed to be.
Now, when it comes to balancing, we tend to lose our way at times. One game becomes two, a ride becomes a van filled with kids enjoying each other.
Here's the thing of it: You must make time for yourself. There. And don't feel guilty about doing so.
Schedule a day off just for you. Take the kids to school, drop everything and just relax. Find out what it is you need to reconnect with in your life. Go have a cup of coffee. Prop your feet up at the local bookstore for a couple of hours and get lost in a book. Peace, relaxation is something you can afford. Walk the park, take a drive but whatever you do, do it simply because it makes you happy.
No worries, the real world will come creeping back in, but until it does, just let things be. You'll be amazed at how a little 'you time' can revitalize your life.
I'm making a date with myself very soon, you should do the same.
